Middle School Chorus
The above link leads to a video excerpt of me working on "Yonder Come Day" with middle school students.
"Yonder Come Day" is based on a traditional Georgia Sea Islands Spiritual with additional words, music, and arrangement by Judith Cook Tucker. |
I taught the middle school chorus "Yonder come day by rote". Every student learned every section of this song. I then passed out sheets to each the soprano, alto, and men's sections to show where their part will go in the song. This is one of the rehearsals putting those parts together as they will be in the concert.

Performance Excerpts
"Largo" from Sonate C-Dur Für Fagott und Basso Continuo by Johann
Friedrich Fasch
Sonate C-Dur Für Fagott und Basso Continuo (Sonata in C Major for Bassoon and Basso
Continuo) is a piece originally written for bassoon. Basso Continuo is a loose term for “accompaniment group.” This edition of Fasch’s Sonata in C is based on a contemporary copy. It is owned by the Fuerstenberg-Herdringen Library in Arnsberg, Germany. Sonate C-Dur is a Baroque piece. The Largo is a slow, broad, and stately movement. The first section is repeated, with added ornamentation the second time around. Ornamentation can also be found throughout the entire work, which was common in Baroque era music (around 1600-1750). This opening movement draws the audience in with a peaceful, almost royal movement that is pleasing to the ear.

"Scherzo" by K. Seitz.
A Scherzo is a joke. The music is light and staccato, or separated, and has a humorous character about it. The definite feeling of a 6/8 pulse is continually played by each of the members of the quartet. It almost seems as if there is laughter among the players, as the joke is shared and the humor enjoyed throughout.
